XF Luxury - Auto Gear Box Problem
My husband has an XF and we have had a problem with the gear box slipping and 'gear box fault' message coming up on dash. The car has only done 30,000 and Jaguar are telling us we need to replace the gear box at a cost of £4.5K !! They are refusing to accept that there is a manufacturer fault with what should be a prestige car's gear box failing at only 30,000 miles. Has anyone else had issues such as this and could offer some advice?
First, be aware they're a franchise. They know about cars to some extent and how to sell them. They likely know very little about automatic gearboxes made in Germany.
There's a fair chance it's OK but some ideas:
1. may be a failing battery
2. gearbox may be short on oil
#1 is cheap and easy to try
otherwise find a jag indy or a transmission specialist

I've had this occur a few times, but tracked the problem to be releasing the footbrake BEFORE applying the e/handbrake while it's in park.
I assumed it's as the gearbox moves slightly in park and takes the weight of the car it just throws a "wobbly" and forgets what position it's meant to be in.

Check her profile. She literally signed up and posted one message and then never came back since that day more than 5 years ago.
