Perhaps the new high output V6? I'm looking forward to seeing what this new engine can do.

I should probably just look it up myself, but when are those coming out?

I heard MY13 should be arriving in Sept. I also heard they are going "decontent" the XF to get the price under $50k for some new models, including ecoboost 4 and 6 cylinders, as well as offer all-wheel drive.

8 spd will be standard fairly soon. The 6 spd is only available with gas engines in Europe and that will change soon. Everybody is going at least 7 spd, even full manual shift from Porsche is 7 spd now.

The 8 spd is a fantastic transmission. Every bit as good as the 6 spd but even smoother and more responsive.

Too bad the '13 XK's aren't getting it...I guess Jag is done updating that series.

New XK is not far away. The new F Type comes out first, then the baby jaguar probably based on the land rover Evoque platform as that in turn derives from the Freelander which was based on the X Type, in turn an awd Mondeo. The Evoque is a redesign of the earlier soft roader an sedan, but the reworked platform would be ideal for the baby Jag.

The big challenge for Jaguar is not to cannibalize its XK and XF lines with the new smaller cars. Unfortunately for us cheapskates I am pretty sure Jaguar is headed firmly up market. Western car manufacturers will not be able to compete with the Chinese at the bottom feeder market. Sort of where we were in the early days of the Japanese intrusion. Now Japan also makes expensive high quality cars that break.

Yes, I was told by the Jag rep last year the xk was moving up market and becoming a true 2+2.

Those tranny fights are just like the shaver fights track two, turbo 3,
Schike has now four blades, gillete will put out five soon...

Except the tranny guys are looking for high fuel economy and low CO2 for the Euro market. Coming to a Democratic run US government soon, along with an environmental fuel tax!

Ironically, as fuel economy improves the US highway improvement fund deteriorates along with the highways it is supposed to repair. No need to call the increase an environmental tax. It is coming because it has to.
