Please forgive me if this has already been discussed in exhaustion. I have tried to search the posts but never really found the complete answer. My 2014 XF Would randomly flash a code so quickly that I could not even see what it was and occasionally my power steering would feel stiff. This happened just a couple times over the past few months but no other real issues. When I got in the other day I had what seems like every possible fault code display when I started the car. Of note the eco start stop had not been working of late so I presumed that may have something to do with it. The car seems to run and drive fine. I had the batteries replaced and the codes reset by my mechanic. The eco start / stop is now working normally again. But a day later I had multiple fault codes display again. Everything from gearbox fault to tps fault to edc fault to abs fault...etcetera. Again, The car again seems to be running fine but the check engine light is on. I am not sure what could be causing this. I have reviewed multiple posts that mention fuse boxes, grounding wires, alternator, etc. I just wondered if a definitive fix was ever discovered to this problem? Thanks in advance!
Thank you. I have been reading. Subsequently if you had been reading you would know I just had the batteries replaced by a professional mechanic with official Jaguar batteries a few days ago. Unfortunately the garage did not give me the specific codes. Just said most of them were no communication codes.
OK good but what are the voltages of the battery now? Resting and running?
As you know a new battery does NOT mean it's fully charged! The standard recommendation is to purchase a battery and then bench charge it at least over night before installing.
If the shop won't give you the codes go to any parts store and see what they can read? They won't have a Jaguar scanner but it will pick up most common error codes.
You want to erase them after reading but we have heard some places now are trying to say it's illegal to erase codes.
We really need codes to provide much help?
You will find buying your own scanner will quickly pay for itself too. Just so much stuff you can check in seconds. I finally went to a full blown SDD because of this.
If the car is NOT communicating with any scanner then you have bigger problems? You can check for 12 VDC on pin 16 of the OBDII port.
