Default Jaguar XF not starting , steering column locked fault (actually unlocked) .

i guys , I am new to this forum and I am hoping for the best. So I bought a accidental jaguar XF 2014 2.2 Diesal couple of months back and almost finished with it so I thought to start the car on last Saturday. We installled the original jaguar battery which came with the car after recharging it preassuming that it was charged enough to start the car. We cranked the car and it started perfectly. There were couple of temporary faults coming in ABS which I erased with my Delphi diagnostic tool. After that I disconnected the -ve terminal to avoid battery drainage as the head lights and few other connectors were still not connected like parking sensors etc. On Monday I connected the -ve terminal to start the car but no joy. Suddenly I saw lots of faults on the instrument cluster like steering column locked, parking brake fault, gearbox fault, ABS fault, BATTERY NOT CHARGING etc. I thought that It must be because of low battery so we put battery on charging for 8 hours and when tried again there was no joy. Everything is same as it was before. Please advise what would be the fault. Thanks

It'll be the battery. Even if you disconnected it. Low voltage causes all manner of fault codes to appear as those modules may not power up properly if voltage is too low. Get a new battery on it and clear the codes.

Check the earth strap to the engine block - it bolts onto the transmission bellhousing on the r/h side of the engine - undo the nut and make sure it has a good, clean connection to the block. While you're there, check the connections to the starter, and alternator, as they're both that side of the car. Barring that - any other codes recorded?

Hi , thank you . I will surely check that . And the modules which I am able to communicate don’t have any faults . I am able communicate with BCM , auxiliary central module , keyless module , seat modules , door modules etc .

i am not able to communicate with Ecu , tsm , gwm , abs etc .

Thanks

That doesn't sound right. If you're only able to communicate with some of the modules, it sounds like the voltage is too low. Are you using SDD with a cable or a generic code reader? Does it display the battery voltage on it? If you're using a new battery there could be a short somewhere.
