Default Accessing SIRI on a 2012 XF

Anyone know if I can access Siri on my Iphone 4S through my XF. I use bluetooth to communicate with the phone and can listen to music and place/answer calls. Is there anyway to get Siri started?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I saw that but it sounded like the user has to press the "home" button which I assume is the button on the front of the phone, but maybe not.

You don't need to touch the iPhone, just hit the voice button on the steering wheel and say "Phone, Dial Handset Name" then you will hear the Siri chime. Good to go.

I love it!

Now if only you could customize so I could just say "Siri"

Tried but no success. Just to be clear, when you say "handset name", you mean "the name of the handset", like "bert's iphone", or "Sue's iphone"?

When I try, I select the phone mode, but then it thinks I want to dial a voice tag. I see there is a Siri icon on one of the cars phone menus, but it's greyed out until I press the phone button. The Siri starts up at which point the icon lights up and I can talk to Siri through the car.

Tried that first but no success. It thinks I want to dial a voice tag. What year is your car? Mine's a 2012 and the phone is an iphone 4S.

I looked through the manual again for any tips but no luck. It seems like the voice tag commands are pre-programmed in. I get a bunch for the phone and Nav but nothing that relates to Siri. It can get it to work fine once the button on the phone is pressed but that's it. There is no mention of the Siri function in the manual even though there is a Siri icon on the cars touch screen.

I believe you have to start off with "phone call contact", then "name".

If you just say phone dial name, it wont' do anything.

Tried that but if I say "phone, call contact", it asks for my contact name. I then say the contact name "me", but that just makes the phone dial itself, which gives me my voicemail box.

Anyone got a definitive, step-by-step, set of commands that works on the 2012 car?

When my GF is driving the XF
for some reason everything she says, works.

When I drive it, and I hold down the button.
Just bleeps and nothing happens,
Car hates me

but siri definitely works, Just not for me I guess

She use's phrases like "Dial or Call .. (With pause) Jenny"
then it asks which jenny and when she specify it dials that correct one.

Also i dont know if she was messing with me
but she said "I'm Hungry" and it appointed nearest POI restaurants, and we had sync with the navi screen, took us to the restaurant she picked

You actually say "Phone, Dial Handset Name" use the words exactly like that. Not the name of your phone, Bill's phone or Samsung.

Say "Dial, Handset Name"

Weird but true!!

It sounds to me as though you need voice control, which is not standard on all XFs (though is possibly on all US spec XFs).

(It doesn't work on my MY12 Premium Luxury 3.0D - I don't have voice control)

Yes it has voice control. XF Supercharged with all the options bar the ski hatch in the rear seat and the electric sun blind.

The only way I can get Siri to work in a non-voice-control-equipped vehicle is to hold down the home button on the phone, and then use the car microphone. Bummer.

Am I right to assume voice control is something that is an older option?
I have my12 portfolio with almost all options. And it doesn't work
Says something about voice tags
