Air Conditioner buzzing?
I just bought a 2011 XF Base a month ago. I have mixed emotions after having a 2007 Lexus GS 450H.
I hear this constant buzzing noise coming from the passenger side. When I took it to the dealer, the technician said it was the air compressor. He went out to another XF and said he heard the same thing. Do all XFs have the same problem or was he pulling my chain?

If this is coming from near the glovebox it will be the interior cabin air temperature sensor. It has a tiny fan to continually draw air across the thermistor. It should be inaudible if the engine is running. It should really be silent all the time but some people have acute hearing.
If you have sharp ears maybe ask a friend to also listen.
These components get noisier as they fail. A new one is cheap to install and if you still have warranty it'd be worth making a fuss.

Thanks. I don't think my hearing is spectacular or anything but it annoys me to death. I also have recently noticed my AM radio is not working. So far not excited about my purchase.
Sorry this is bothering you so much - I hope it is resolved to your satisfaction, but I would have to think the performance level of the XF is night and day different from the hybrid GS. Are there other issues besides this annoyance that cause you to be disenchanted, I wonder?
Yes, don't get me wrong, I think the XF is beatiful on the outside and just lacking a bit on the inside. Maybe it's because I got the base instead of the top of the line. But for a luxury vehicle, certain things should just be a standard - especially in 2011.
1. Electronic system seems to be designed by cavemen
3. No hands NFC for entering the vehicle
4. Reverse camera is blurry
5. No Sunglasses holder
6. Low beam headlights are dim
There's probably more I can't think of on the fly. Again, I don't want to act like I dislike my car. I do get those "Nice car!" comments but I have a bit of buyer's remorse.

a. Can't make navigation the default home screen
b. No A2DP for bluetooth
c. Ipod song navigation
2. No cooled seats on base model. My girl makes fun of me in her Lex IS250 - hers is an '08b. No A2DP for bluetooth

There's no doubt that Jaguar is a bit "behind" in some of the electronics (2012+ is somewhat better performing, by the way), but a base model 5 Series or E Class would have even more spartan features - no nav, vinyl seats believe it or not, etc.... And a lot of the things mentioned were certainly available as options.

You're issue is more that you bought a base model...
The 2010-11 XFR have amazing headlights, cooled seats, a great reverse camera (just as good as the Germans)...and..although no bluetooth streaming, gives you seamless access to Siri through the bluetooth voice module. The stuff I can do with my car using the voice control and Siri is awesome.
I don't think the 2012+ cars play as nice with Siri.
The funniest thing is seeing a GM commercial that advertises being able to activate Siri with the steering wheel button, and my Jaguar that was designed probably 2008/2009 has the same functionality, even if it was by mistake.

Also, there are many workarounds for the Bluetooth streaming. There are aftermarket Bluetooth adapters that fit into the auxiliary jack, or you could actually plug right into the iPod jack if you have an iPhone.
