Two days ago my Alternator went up into the smokes and gave it's last, Jaguar charges me 1000€ for the OE and Denso has it listed at around 300€, main thing is now that I am not sure if they are the same or they will fit since the original ones looks a bit the same like the Denso one but the back case is off, mine has it from black plastic and the Denso one has it made out of Metal. The codes for the parts are the following

XR837164 OE Alternator

DAN1408 Denso Alternator ( It will only fit XJ '03-'09 and S-Types '99-'08 with the 3.0 N/A engines)

From what I have read Jaguar just does the extra charge so you can have the Jaguar badge on a Denso part and I am not willing to payout almost 700€ just for a few letters.

My Jag is a XF 2008 3.0 Petrol N/A

From my knowledge the engines stayed the same until they became obsolete in 2013 when they replaced it with the V6 Supercharged (which is basically the V8 but 2 pistons went on a stroll)

Can anyone give me a hand? My kitty has been stuck in the garage for the past 3 days and it sucks to not have it, at least I get to daily drive my S Type R

 

I would get the original rebuilt. Even if you have to send it off somewhere.
Many people have installed replacement alternators and then have additional problems.

Have fixed the old alternator and purchased a new one from EUSTARTER...

Car works wonders with the new one.
