Default B&W Aux Noise

Hi,
I am new to this forum and thought I may get better answers here than from Jaguar

I have a late 2010 XF3.0s (MY2011) and have read much about the tank 'thud' which Jaguar recently release a fix for and has now become a tank 'knocking' on my car but I have whirring noise on the aux input on my Bowers & Wilkins sound system which can be heard over the audio (even there when the engine is not switched on) which I can't find any mention of

Jaguar UK have told me that is a known issue and they are working on a fix but now they are moving away from B&W I wonder if this will ever happen
Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me and Jaguar are just trying to get out of changing my system

Many thanks, Mike

Have not had either of these issues as of yet, less than 4k miles though. Maybe others will chime in.

I had the same whirring noise from the AUX it only occurs when i dont have my aux wire all the way in or if i disconnect my phone from the wire. I never heard it blasting over the music i would just make sure you have a good connection

Disconnect you audio signal equipment (mp3 player or iPod or iPhone) from the AC charger, and the noise will be much less

Thanks for your replies

I have tried unplugging everything else (iPod and USB Hard drive) and turning off climate and it still makes the same level of noise with or without the engine running
The car has been into my local dealer who say that they have had it before but have not had a fix for it from Jaguar
Jag UK say that it is a know software issue but I don't know why that would only effect some vehicles
It also makes no difference if something is plugged into the Aux input or not, I have taken a video with sound on my iPhone and as soon as I work out how to send it in the correct format and post it here I will

Mike,

We have a forum member from Jaguar UK CRC (Customer Relationship Centre).

If your UK Jaguar Dealer is not acting on your complaints about the B & W sound system, you could get a better response from Jaguar themselves by using this approach.

If you want to give it a go, follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...-crc-uk-82019/ to Nicola's thread in the UK Region section.

For members outside the UK reading this, I'd better add that Jaguar CRC will only assist UK owners.

Graham,

Thanks

My dealer did look into it but said that they had this with another car and Jaguar had no fix for it.
I have been dealing with Alison at Jaguar UK on another issue, she is very helpful but says that they are aware off the aux noise issue but do not have a fix for it yet and I don't see them finding one now that they have moved away from B&W

The noise makes the input un-useable

I've only had the car since May but for a loaded potfolio all the knocking, rattling, and thumping (from the full tank even after having the jaguar fix) I wish I'd never set eyes on it, how they got car of the year so many times I have no idea

Mike,

If Jaguar do come up with a fix, it will be issued in the form of a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) to the dealer network.

On a 2011MY vehicle warranty requires they repair it or compensate you if the issue is unresolvable. Worth a letter to your dealer and to Jaguar to remind them you aren't going to go away.

Mike, did you ever get this resolved? My newly-purchased 2009 XF has the same exact problem. It's not related to engine speed, so it's not behaving like I think ground loop noise generally presents in cars. And it happens even if the engine is off. I noticed that if I insert a charger in the glovebox-mounted accessory plug, the noise gets much louder as I have it half-inserted, but once it bottoms out in the receptacle, the noise returns to its normal relatively-low level. It also gets louder if I have nothing plugged in to the AUX jack.

The noise ONLY shows up on this source; the head unit shows no noise on radio, SAT, CD, IPod, or USB. The noise is only on AUX.

Any idea what causes this or how to work around it?
