Default Battery Included?

I have a 2009 XF and my computer just informed me that my battery is"low". With that in mind I contacted Jaguer service and they told me that if I need a new battery, it would be covered under warranty.

Is this correct? If it is NOT covered under warranty, could I purchase an aftermaret battery from a place like Autozone?

Please comment.

Battery is covered if defective.

If they told you it was covered, why wouldn't you take them up on that? The only reason I could see to get a different battery from the warranty-supplied battery is if you wanted a gel-type such as an Odessey. I don't know if they sell them at AutoZone. Since your car is only 2-3 years old, I would think that either the battery is defective or the alternator is defective, as it should not be needing replacement this soon (absent damage from a collision). I suggest having it checked by the dealer so that if the battery is going flat due to a defective alternator (or other part of charging/electrical system) that is fixed under warranty as well as the battery replaced.

Does it tell you that the battery is low every time?

I've had my '11 XF S/C for 2 1/2 months now and my car will sporadically tell me that the battery is low but if I turn the car off and back on it doesn't give me the message.

So, I wonder if the infamous Jag gremlins are at work?

This message appears if the battery resudual voltage drops below a pre-set level due to excessive drain. Usually, the ignition has been left on accidentally for an extended period. If the message repeats often then you have a fault somewhere. The ICE is a known problem, remaining on for 20 minutes when all is normal with ignition off in case you are wanting the radio on without the key. Some cars have faults which fail to switch this off ever causing battery failure.

Ask your dealer to check for current drains before fitting the new warranty battery. Do NOT buy aftermarket as thn jaguar never has to fix your issue, they blame I on the aftermarket equipment.

Thanks for your advice. I just returned from the dealer and the battery did NOT pass their tests. I asked them ton check drainage areas and they found nothing.

I received a brand new battery at no charge...love it! My car was put into service in August 2008...so it lasted approx 3.5 years. With all the electronics on the car, can we expect the battery to last longer??

Gee, I wish more folks thought logically like that. Today's cars, all of them, have basically stretched the 12v electrical system to the limit. They keep talking about a 24v or 48v system and their advantages, but here we still are, 12 volts.

Cheers,
