Default Bluetooth USB receiver?

So there was another thread about a bluetooth adapter for the AUX connection. I thought it was overkill until I took a road trip recently with a stereo miniplug from my phone headset jack to the AUX jack. Worked great 'till I tried to make or receive calls. The phone tried to route everything through the headset jack and I couldn't be heard. Wouldn't rout to my bluetooth headset that way, either. So I can see the benefits now to going bluetooth to Aux.

But I'm also wondering about a bluetooth USB receiver. That would be less clutter in the box, but I'm thinking it might not work at all since there will be no way to load drivers. I'm also thinking it might only show the smartphone as a USB drive if it does work, thus being useless for streaming audio which is what I'm after. Has any one tried this?

I've been listening to a lot of podcasts lately, and have the same issue. Every time a call comes in, I have to pick up the phone to remove the stereo jack, accept the call, then reconnect the jack after the call.

I'd be very interested to have any workaround to this!

Jeff

So I picked up a Rocketfish USB bluetooth receiver at Best Buy. Rocketfish™ - Micro Bluetooth USB Adapter - RF-MRBTAD
My phone wouldn't even see it when I tried to search for new devices. I returned it immediately.

But even as I was returning it, I had a thought. Maybe I should have plugged it into a PC to pair it with my phone, and then tried it in the car. I decided not to bother because a Bluetooth receiver for 3.5mm aux jack would suit me also in my Honda Oddyssey. Also, I suspect even if I could pair the USB thing to my phone, it would probably only show it as a storage device and not allow streaming. But that's just a guess.

So here's what I ordered:
Amazon.com: iKross Bluetooth Car Vehicle Audio Music Streaming Receiver With 3.5mm Stereo Output + USB Car Charger for Pantech 8035, 8992, 8995, 8999, P2020, P2030, P5000, P6010, P7000, P8000, P9050, P9020, P9060, P9070. P7040, P2000, TXT8040, TXT804 Amazon.com: iKross Bluetooth Car Vehicle Audio Music Streaming Receiver With 3.5mm Stereo Output + USB Car Charger for Pantech 8035, 8992, 8995, 8999, P2020, P2030, P5000, P6010, P7000, P8000, P9050, P9020, P9060, P9070. P7040, P2000, TXT8040, TXT804

I'll let repost after I test it out.

On my 2011 I have been using a Samsung GS2 with this bluetooth reciever.

Amazon.com: Miccus BluBridge Mini-Jack RX: Bluetooth Music Receiver use with Bluetooth-Enabled Mobile Phones, Tablets, PCs and Apple (BBMR-02): MP3 Players & Accessories Amazon.com: Miccus BluBridge Mini-Jack RX: Bluetooth Music Receiver use with Bluetooth-Enabled Mobile Phones, Tablets, PCs and Apple (BBMR-02): MP3 Players & Accessories

The phone connects to the car and to the BluBridge. It sees the BluBridge as a headset and sends my music to it. All the telephone functions go through the Jaguar system. It works very well.

Yep, it's awesome. It automatically turns on when you unlock/open the car and turns off when you lock it, etc. Great quality, no dropped connections, etc. Highly recommend.

The iKross works fine. Took a while to pair, but now connects without problem. Do have to turn it on manually when I start the car. Great bang for the buck, but not as convenient as the Blackberry product, it seems.

With the iKross, phone sends calls through the regular car BT connection and music through the iKross. Audio quality is fine for my ear. I've had my phone connected to car, iKross, and ELM327 all at the same time, and working well.

Are you using this to play music through? Does it work with an iPhone?
Also, does the USB port power the Blackberry Music Gateway?

Yes, I bought it so I could stream internet radio (TuneIn Radio Pro, Pandora, etc.) from my phone without plugging it in every time.

Yes, although I have an Android device. My phone is setup to automatically launch TuneIn Radio Pro as soon as I get into my car.

Yes, there are 2 cords that come with it; the USB cord to power it, and the stereo jack to plug it into the AUX port.

This thing works great! Thank you so much! This is exactly what I wanted, I am so happy, it works absolutely perfectly with my Samsung Charge.

Tried this on my 2011 XKR. No luck. Could not get it to work. I think I'll buy a USB stick and every so often update it from by phone. There is only a USB and ipod port on the XKR to connect to. No other auxiliary ports. All my other cars stream music as soon as I get in. What's wrong with Jaguar?
