Bluetooth x 2
For reasons I’ll spare you here (believe me, you would thank me if you knew
) I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m better off having one device for music (iPod Touch) and a separate phone (Google Galaxy Nexus) for everything else. But I was worried about how the 2012 streaming Bluetooth would work. Here’s what I found.
Does it work? Yes. I can have my phone and my Touch hooked up at the same time. When I receive a phone call, it pauses my Touch and restarts it when I’m done. I was fairly impressed with the ability to even do this much.
The only issue I’ve been having and it’s hit or miss is that sometimes, my phone does not re-establish it’s connection. Android 4.0 (not sure of other versions) has the ability to classify a Bluetooth connection as phone, music or both. For my XF connection, I have only phone selected. But the Touch, does not have the same settings. And while it’s not a phone, I assume that in some start up sequences, the XF thinks it is and doesn’t start the connection with my phone. It’s easy enough to go into the phone menu and “Change Phones”. Once that’s done, both work without issue. Also, as of late, the startup process has picked both up correctly. The XF does have a separation between an audio Bluetooth connection and a phone Bluetooth connection. But while there are separate screens, it seems like it ultimately just combines the two into a single set of available Bluetooth connections.
Not at all complaining. I for one am surprised it even works to the point that it does. I’ve had a few different vehicles with Bluetooth connections in them and don’t think any facilitated this kind of split 2 connection ability. Just thought I would share my results.
