Default BMS Calibration

Has anyone purchased and changed their own battery in car. I have read that the dealer should do it account of the BMS (battery monitoring system) requires calibration. Apparently it is connected to the negative terminal. what happens if you change the battery yourself does the BMS not work?

Their aint no such thing....but as you have mentioned on other threads on the forum....you have been told to change it...so just go ahead and do it! Reset your handbrake...and I hope you have not bought a battery in vain while you had another fault that was giving you a starting problem arfter fueling up!!!!

I replaced the battery and followed all instructions everyone had to offer and the emergency brake reset as well as windows. Of note if someone else removing the battery it is much easier due to the right space to move the spare tire as this will save time in struggling to lift the battery out and install the replacement.

I find this forum very helpful. All the best to you all

Drive safely Johnny jag

I've also replaced the battery without any issues. I just reset the emergency brake per the instructions in the center console. The battery has a plastic handle that enables you to lift it straight out so you won't need to move the spare.

I too had the Diehard Gold battery put in ……..but by Sears ! They attached an auxiliary 12 volt device while installing the new battery and nothing had to be changed or modified. Everything was as before !
