I have two questions. 1. My front brakes just started making a noise turning left and stopping like they are really rubbing (disintergrating?) 2. Do those drilled and slotted discs make more noise than OEM discs?
Mine do not make any noise at all. But the pedal feel is a bit different.
Under normal braking you really can't tell any difference in pedal feel.
If you really clamp down on the brakes from a good speed, I feel a very slight, dare I say, pulsing sensation. It is not at all like a warped feeling as it is very smooth, just a different foot feel.
But I only have 150 miles of normal driving and I think they are still "bedding in".
I have other cars with slotted/drilled rotors and each car is slightly different. My Galant VR4 had no adverse pedal feel but had a very slight clicking noise as you cruised around from the rear, but that most likely was from the spring metal clips that held the pads in place allowing slight pad movement under a "no braking" condition.
I have this same “Brake pad low” warning message. Is this the front pad or rear pad warning? Also, is there a way to inspect the pads myself without taking off the wheel? And if it is the sensor that is faulty and nothing else, how would I know for sure?
U have to take the wheels of to check the pads. I had a false warning because the sensor wire was rubbed apart between the caliper and the wheel. All I did was used a butt connector to connect the wire back together or u could solder the wire too.
I ordered new rotors and used my caliper to measure them but I am not sure if the numbers on the screen are right. However, the numbers on the ruler part of the caliper looks to be 32 mm. Can someone confirm if this is correct rotor for my front XF?

That is the exact same gauge that I use and I have found it to be accurate as long as it has been "zeroed" properly before measuring.
So the first thing to do is check that you have zeroed it properly.
The second thing to do is to simply grab a ruler and measure the thickness that way. It may not give you a precise thickness but it will at least show if the rotor is in the ballpark of 32 mm.

Looking at the ruler on the caliper, it measures 32 mm correct? Looks like it to me.

Look at the left side of the gauge ruler in your pic.
It is starting from around -.75 mm not zero so it is not showing the true width of the rotor.
As I said before, zero the gauge then try again.
Edit - on second thoughts I reckon the "ruler" reading is correct, 32 mm, and it's the electronic reading that is wrong coz you didn't zero that reading first.
