Default Byepassing Brake pad wear sensor

Hey folks, the brake pad wear sensor has a two prong connector. Will shorting them send an OK signal to the computer? Or when wear occurs do they short? I want to remove the warning on my dash until I get my new sensors.

Normally, those two connectors are shorted through a loop of wire embedded in the pad at the bonding point. When the wire wears through to open circuit the warning light goes on. Shorting those connectors fools the circuit into thinking the pads are not worn out.

And for a clean bypass method I used just a few strands of bare wire from speaker wire about 1/2 inch long and inserted it into the female sides on the connector and then plugged the connector back in. This way you can never visually see any type of bypass and it is sealed away from any elements, and any chance of getting a loose connection which would drive you nuts in the future.

Option 2 is to also use the said strands of wire and solder it back to the worn sensor and then epoxy over it flush so it will wear away in the future again like a new sensor would, this takes some time and patience, but works well.

Be glad the Jag does not have the 2 stage resistor type like some Audi do. Those are silly and must be purchased again.
