Default Can't find anything about this button

Hey all,

So I've found this button in front of my cup holders and I gave absolutely no idea what it does and I can't seem to find anything about it so I'm a bit stumped haha.

Would anyone happen to know?

From the UK 2011 XF Owner's Handbook - suggests it's a power socket location in that storage compartment on European specification .....

..... so the round black and silver component is likely to be a pull out blanking plug?

I have a cigarette lighter (remember those, what are they called?) plug there. Old fashioned Aux power source ...
It has a flip-up plastic cover on the top.

Oh really, wow! Haven't seen an old fashion cigarette lighter in a while!
I'll have a proper look at it after work, I haven't been game enough to touch it because I had no idea what it was haha

That's the ashtray, an optional extra. As GGG said, very likely to be a blanking plug in there (like in mine). You may also find one in the rear, at the back of the centre armrest, by the vents.

Rare to find a sales photoset with this console compartment open. Here's one with a lighter or possibly the more usual blank plug in position.

Looking closely at your 'button', that may be an actual lighter.

It did indeed turn out to be a lighter port with the blank plug sitting in it.
