Default Car wash issues with pressure monitors?

Just had my 10 XF washed and a full service place.

For the next 20 miles, the tire pressure monitor system went apeshit.

The sensor screen was flashing between each tire randomly and then would blink to normal and then back to showing different tires. The tire warning light was was on also.

It is now ok (hopefully it will last), but if not, what do you guys think?

Loose connector allowing water in, wire rubbed bare, etc...?

Probably the pick up units in each wheel well got wet.

Too much pressure in the water jets.

I noted that California spray wash operations use pressure washers, dumb idea.

No sense using "touchless" wash if they use high pressure washers!

The whole point of touchless wash is to reduce abrasion on paint. Pressure washers can strip paint if the pressure is high enough!

Or is could be a coincidence and because the weather is cooling off now, your tire pressure is just low enough to kick off the sensors. If all of them were on the edge of reading low perhaps that's why you are seeing them all lighting up...then not. Check your pressures.

In my experience pressures have to drop by about 20% to trigger the TPMS. on my car it takes minus 28C to trigger low pressure which was correct in my plus 10C garage. That's a drop of about 7 or 8 PSI. This is one reason these systems are virtually useless. I can tell if one or more tires is 2 psi down just by vehicle handling!

My issue was not low pressure. It was flashing at a random sequence all the tires, then would clear and then start all over again, never more than 1 tire at a time. Just constant flipping on and off, at random corners.

And since then, dry and no issues, rain and no issues.

It has to be due to the under carriage high pressure spray system at that car wash.
