Default Center Dash Speaker

I recently picked up a 2014 XF with AWD and the base Meridian stereo.

My center console speaker has what appears to be a cut out for the speaker, but nothing installed.

I was wondering if that spot is in fact wired for a speaker. If so, would putting a speaker in that location result in what I am hoping for, which is a better centered stereo image? It is conceivable that it could draw a synthetic mid channel from the left and right feeds.

If not, what would be involved in achieving something like that? Would it sound OK? I have seen posts indicating that the center speaker in the upgraded Meridian Surround configuration has two drivers and can be ordered separately, but I am not sure whether this would work or be worthwhile.

Thanks.

The wiring is not there but it's relatively easy to make the wiring loom.

However you won't get any sound out of it unless you change the amplifier to the one from the big Meridian system, and the car needs to be re-programmed to activate it.

A Jaguar dealer cannot do this for you, but it is possible (some forum members have done it).
