Default Complications to changing air filters?

My dealer quoted me $132 to change the air filter(s) - 32K miles. Mann, 2 ea at $16, Rock Auto. What am I missing here?

By doing it yourself, it looks like you're missing a pretty significant labor charge..........

They are a piece of cake to change, just undo the T20 Torx screws on the top covers (they are held captive in their holes), lift the covers off, whip out the old filters and plop the new ones in and replace the covers. The whole job should take no more than 30 minutes even going slow and careful.

One related question: do I have to split my $100 savings with you?

Depending on the filters you get they don't always fit that well, I tried Mahle one fit okay, the other was too tight and would bow up in the center. They worked but I made real sure they were seated correctly.

Same thing with the Mahle cabin air filter, the center locking tab lined up exactly on one of the pleats of the filter, I had to bend the pleat to get it to work.

I'd try Mann filters next time, you can get them at Rockauto, or if you want to spent the extra cash, you can get the OEM filters on eBay, they sell them in 2 packs, suppose to be "matched filters" so left and right flow the same.

I couldn't find "matched" air filters on eBay for the XF, but the OEM filter is Mann. I bought 1 from Rock Auto a few weeks ago not realizing there are 2. I think this is the 2nd time I've had the hood up on this car - love it!! And I think the 1st time was my kid and I wanting to see the supercharger arrangement, which of course we didn't. I drove a supercharged Thunderbird with an intercooler and the plumbing nearly filled the engine bay.

C2Z15037 is the part number for the OEM 3.0 filters, if you search on eBay for that part number you will find it that part number comes with 2 filters. So if you ordered x2 of that part number you would actually get 4 filters.

Just as a example of a listing with good pictures, but his pricing is way to high.

GENUINE OE JAGUAR AIR FILT TWIN PACK.C2Z15037.$65.50. XF; XJ>V00001.3.0 & 5.0 | eBay

Now I see why the dealer wanted $132. $65.50 + $20.84 shipping. But the owners manual calls out Mann C30115, $33.02 + $5.89 at Rock Auto.

You can get them at https://jaguarmerriamparts.com or https://www.roverjaguarparts.com for $45 plus $10 or so ship, which isn't bad for 2 OEM filters.
