Confused
Do you drive your Tesla over 100Mph, turn corners aggressively ? Or do you drive it sensibly ? I cannot help but think I would actually break this car with my driving habits.
We have a lot of Telsa in CA but everyone I see in them treats them like a trophy car rather than an driving car - nothing wrong with that of course - I am still trying to overcome the bigoted stereotype that Tesla men car owners are 'ponce'.

It's my husbands everyday car and I think he actually drives more aggressively because he can pretty much get in front of any car. He cycles regularly and has a hitch with a bike attachment. He also likes to run it on the track. He's done the 1/4 mile drag races at Homestead and West Palm Beach. He'll be doing it again on Jan 18th and there will be some Tesla P85Ds there that will probably blow him out of the water. Google Tesla P85D or look on youtube, they are FAST. Go an take a test drive, you won're regret it. It's definitely NOT a trophy car .... it's a performance car.
Telsa -- too quiet. Not a fan of electric cars
F Type -- sweet weekend car. I can't get used to the cabin. It's too cramped for my frame.
XKR -- Definitely like it but the 6 spd is annoying once you've driven the 8 spd.
(Yes, I picked XFR-S).
But for a daily at such a low cost I would consider an off-lease (1yr) E350. They practically give them away after 1 yr.

A couple of questions for Tesla owners:
How much did your home electric bill go up per month when you started charging your car at home?
Are the charging stations along the interstate free or do you have to pay a fee to charge?

I haven't noticed any difference in my electric bill .... It's supposed to be like $2-$3/day to charge but since I live in Florida and our A/C runs most months of the year so I really can't tell. Remember, you're only charging up to what you've used for the day.
Obviously you can't justify the price of the Tesla by thinking you're going to save any significant money in gas unless you drive a whole lot. In my opinion, anybody who purchases a car that's over $100K isn't thinking too much about the price of gas when making their decision.
If you use a Tesla charger it's free. We've also found that chargers put in by the Government/City/State have been free. If it's private company then you have to use a "chargepoint" card.
We had a Nissan Leaf for 3 years before the Tesla & have NEVER paid for a charge on a public charger.

Yes that's the problem. WE paid for all those "Free" things the goverment hands out.
Let it fail or suceed on it's own. STOP having the goverment choose winners and losers.
That is NOT their job.

Tesla Model S P85D (691HP) vs P85 (415HP) Heads up Drag Racing | DragTimes.com Drag Racing, Fast Cars, Muscle Cars Blog
Not bad against the Lambo either.

Yes it was that exact video that got me looking closer at Tesla - plus one beat me at the lights
. What I did notice is that the instant torque peaks out that is why the other cars start to catch up and then pass the Tesla at high speed ? I am really impressed with the performance.
I am really interested in a number of things 1) how Tesla performs after lot of high mileage and the overall 2) Wear and tear on mechanical parts over a longer period.

During that year, I learned of the rip off that is the public charging systems as well as the private chargers.
The government paid $2500 to install a 220v outlet in my garage. The fuse box is located in the garage about 20 feet away, and the fuse box did not need any upgrades. In other words, it was more like a $500 job, but there's a huge scam going on with the companies that are authorized to install on behalf of the government.
The government is paying much bigger dollars to subsidize the public charges like the ones you might see at places like Whole Foods. They were free to charge for a while, but now you have pay at most of them. The cost to charge ends up costing more than gasoline per gallon, so if you ever wondered why you almost never see a car charging in those spots, that's why.
The companies that run the chargers suspiciously don't seem to care that no one uses them. In other words, their goal is just to milk the taxpayers and then go out of business at the right time after they lined their pockets.
Don't blame Obama, even though I love blaming him just as much as the next guy. All this stuff was put into motion during the Bush admin.
If Bush started it then Obama is just finishing the task... so it is okay to blame Obama !
I am just trying to figure this all out.
So the government paid for your home charging outlet? Is this true in all areas?
Other than tax credits (how much?) what else do you get for buying an e-car?
Is this all for "new" purchasers, or can you get the freebies buying used?

We bought a used Tesla and got nothing. However, 3 years ago when we leased our Nissan Leaf (all electric) Florida Power & Light installed a free charger at our house.
That FP&L program not longer exists so if you live in FLA you're out of luck.

Just so you know ... the Tesla plug is different from the "standard" EV plug. They give you an adapter. We have the dual charging capability and the person we bought the Telsa from included their Tesla fast charger in the sale.
Hey bollocsk187 ... reporting from yesterday's WPB drag races.
The first race is on youtube it's a Tesla P85D vs. Hellcat .... the Tesla won. The Telsa D beat the Lambo also.
My husband did well, we have a P85. He did 12.4 on the 1/4 mile and I think went as fast as 114-116.
Big Man(Men) on Campus were the Nissan GTRs they beat out everything. A group of about 6 showed up. They sure didn't look stock to me and beat everything.
Biggest disappointment were these 2 McClarens ... both were white and they lined up together, back and forth for about 5 minutes. When the light turned green only one of them took off and the the other guy went after the first one finished at about 55mph .... what a bunch of AMATEUR POSERS!!!! I swear the crowd collectively booed.
Anyway, a fun day at the track. BTW .... are you British .... Never Mind the Bullocks!!!
