Considering a '13 Jaguar XFSC - any comments on what to consider/look for?
Hello everyone.
I’ve had a 2003 Stype 4.2 asp for a year.
Now I'm interested the XFSC - primarily due to the AWL.
I'm not so interested in the SC version neccessarily, especially if it's likely to pose additional tech/reliability/expense issues in the future.
The Stype has been reliable for me so I'm wondering what the reputation of the XF's reliability is– from owners/drivers not the press.
Any suggestions on what to look for when inspecting the model and also common expectations after purchasing would be much appreciated.
Thanks. B.

Guessing you mean you have an 03 Stype. Pretty bulletproof I think those cars are, thanks to Ford quality.
I bought a 13 AWD XF ( comes with Supercharger) Bought from a Jaguar dealer all serviced there, 80k miles. It now needs a supercharger coupler and cross-over pipe. Of course both went after 5K miles in my ownership but not surprising. I bought the car for about wholesale from the dealer.
If I were doing it again I would have paid the premium for one with the SC coupler done at least and if I could get one with a new crossover pipe ( behind the SC, I would have. ) The water pumps seep and that is called within acceptable limits by jaguar.
Also the 8 cyl engines have timing chain guide issues so take a good listen for any timing chain noise since the parts are the same. Run if you hear that. That's why I bought from a jaguar dealer, serviced with correct oil type in correct volumes at all times.
Other than that, Jaguars in general are pieces of crap with poor quality parts but if you can get one cheap enough ( look to pay close to wholeslae, you'll find them or sellers will bite if you offer it) it is a fine car. Wondferful to drive and a real head tuner...
