Leaks in the coolant hose that runs under the supercharger are a big, big, problem discussed over on the S-Type/STR list but no one ever mentions them here. Is there a reason for that?

Are all the supercharged XFs too new to be experiencing this problem (I wouldn't think so, the '09s are mechanically almost identical to the '08 and earlier STRs) or were some engineering/manufacturing changes made to the XFRs?

You'd think that some of the 4.2l XFR owners, at least, would have been faced by this very expensive repair by now.

That's a good point and I have been trying to find out if the 5.0L still has the coolant hose under the SC or not?

The XF 4.2L's are still pretty new so I would not expect many failures yet.
And we need to remember that it's not a 100% failure rate on the STR either.

I am at 110K miles and now 10+ years of age with the original under SC hose. I have replaced just about every other hose because I had a few leaks and it's good maintenance.

I have the hose but getting to it is a whole bunch of work!
