Default Past Jaguar Owner possibly to return?

Hello All!

We used to own a 2005 Jaguar S-type 4.2 in high school and afterward purchased what I have been driving to the present time, a 2008 BMW 750LI for the last 2 years. Well it's time to get rid of the BMW. I am specifically looking at only certified 2011 and 2012 XF's. I know the 2012's have the updated headlights and ideally would love to get one with 20-30k miles. They are at the very top of my price range as I am upside down on bmw by as much as 4-6k depending on trade in offer...

It looks like unless I can get a hell of a deal it will be a Certified 2011 XF with around 30k miles. Is there anything specific I need to look for or would you all strongly recommend the 2012? Anyone get a great deal on a 12?

I am even considering a certified 2010 XF Supercharged 36k miles for $28k. Is the 2010 Supercharged something I should run from or possibly a good car to buy.

Also, Why do so many 2010/2011 Xf's have Water Pump Replacements at such low miles on car faxes? Is this an ongoing issue?

Background is I am now turning 20 y/o this week, drive 20k miles per year due to 40 mi round trip per day going to College and work in real estate... I am fine with high end maintenance/gas etc. Just know I absolutely want to CPO total 6 yr. 100k miles given how much I drive.

Very much appreciate the time and advice!

The 2012 has better seats, better feel to the controls and switches and some other improvements. I own an '11 Supercharged but would recommend the '12 if you can swing it. The water pumps are known failure components. Mine was just replaced at 17,000 or so miles.

If you want to keep the car a few years, I would really suggest that you save up a little more or find a good deal on a 2012. The XF redesign is right around the corner and 1st gen is going to look really old compared to that.

With a MY 2012, it will atleast be closer in look to the new XF. The '11 and '12 won't drive any differently, but the updated exterior and interior, especially the new infotainment system make the 2012 car that much better. I was in the same boat as you, save a couple grand and buy a 2011 or wait for the right deal on a 2012. In the end, I got lucky and found my perfect '12 XF Portfolio w/ Sport Pack and the Bowers and Wilkins upgrade.

Good luck with your search!

Very much appreciate the responses. I found a certified 2012 that is perfect but I cant do anything until I sell my current 7 series. Have a few people coming to look at it this week and hope I can rejoin this site as an owner soon
