Default CTEK Battery Tender Connection Help for XFR-S

I’m new to the Jaguar scene so before I mess something up with the electronics in my XFR-S, I’d appreciate some help checking my connections. You’ll see below I’m trying to connect the CTEK rings without disconnecting any of the existing battery connections.

I’m going to use the ring terminals that came with the CTEK for a more permanent mount. I also have the CTEK “extension” cord that I bought separately.

Here’s my plan based on some researching.

Positive — where I’ve circled yellow, going to go under the nut and on top of the existing ring (so I don’t lose connectivity while installing).

Negative — where I’ve circled green in my pic of my trunk (and circled in red in an internet pic I came across), going to go under the nut and on top of the existing ring).

There are a couple of other options I read about, I think. One circled in blue and the other right next to it in red of the pic of my trunk. The one is red, which looks like it connects the battery hold down bar (not sure if that is the official name) to the body panel, is of interest to me because it looks to be a clearer, easier ground perhaps.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I agree with that proposed positive lead connection.
As for the negative / earth connection I don't like the green circled one as that is the stop/start battery negative terminal connection and who knows if it will work at all or it could even stuff things up big time!
Don't like the battery tie down connection (the red circle) either as there may be little or no metal to metal connection due to the paint on the tie down rod. Maybe that would work if you filed the paint off the tie down rod at that point.
Which leaves the blue circled spot which should work as that is the "correct" OEM earth point.

Thank you! Re: the blue one -- I'll have to take another look in the trunk to confirm that size of that bolt, as it looks pretty large from my pic -- I'm wondering if the ring would fit over the bolt.

Good point on the paint on the rod. Though if I put the ring under the bottom of the rod and in direct contact with bare body sheet metal, shouldn't that work? I suck when it comes to electrical stuff!

I had a different connection for my battery charger on my 2018 XF I removed the alloy wheel on the front passenger side and removed the plastic wheel arch cover. There I connected the postive wire to the large positive cable coming from the battery to the positive post going to the hood/bonnet. I connected the negative wire to a small bolt to ground it. The final result: I don't have to open the trunk/boot and the hood/bonnet everytime I need to charge the car. All it takes a few seconds to connect the accessory speed charger connector to the battery charger connector

Battery charge speed connector in place

Speed connector tucked in if not used.

@2018XF25T That's pretty handy! I thought there was some magic to having to hook them up in the trunk with the older XFs???

You can connect the charger speed connect to the battery, postive wire to battery positive post or large red cable bolt and negative (not on battery post) but earth it on car ground. What you have to do is route the speed connect so that it will stick out from the spare tire cover. That way you dont have to take the spare tire cover everytime you have you charge your vehicle.
