Does bumper have to come off to access back of grill?
I want to add and R badge to front grill on 2010 XFR, seems more trouble than it worth lol, the badge I got has that backing that bolts behind the grill. Any clever ways to do this or does the bunper have to come off to and grill out? Any easy to follow instructions online for it if so?
Thanks
Thanks
The bumper has to come at least half off to access the back of the grill. No need to remove the front undertray, just remove the bolts and scrivets across the top (under the hood) and pull each end away from the fender (the ends clip in), then the bumper will drop far enough so you can access the grill. Just watch out for wiring looms and plugs, you don't want too much weight and stress on them, best to support the bumper with something.
Alternatively you can stick the R badge on without dropping the bumper at all, that's what I did. I used black RTV windscreen sealant. Pick your spot, fill the hex hole in the grill with sealant (it's thick enough so it won't just run out the back), leave a bit proud and/or put a dob on the back of the badge, press the badge in place and hold for about a minute until the sealant takes hold, then clean up any excess with mineral turps on a soft rag (gently!). The sealant will set hard in about 24 hours. I did it this way a year ago and the badge hasn't budged one bit, it's rock solid. As an added bonus the badge sits flat on the grill with no ugly mounting plate.
Others have glued the badge on with Araldite, that seems to work quite well, but of course if you ever want to take the badge off the grill will be marred, at least with the windscreen sealant method you can remove the badge and the sealant without any damage.

Some people on the forum here also made their own mount plate using a toggle bolt so you just push it through from the front of the grill, the toggle opens once it gets behind the grill, and you tighten it up. Search about 18 months or maybe 2 yrs back for the thread
But the above sealant suggest sounds like the simplest I've heard and quite effective.

I went with the toggle bolt. I had the same badge you are describing only in the "s"variant. Basically, you will need to cut the toggle bolt cause it is pretty long, but don't cut it too short that it prevents the toggle from going through. I have pictures of how I did it and I will post them if you want.
