Driver side mirror lens falling off
Hi All,
I have a '09 XF that has a side mirror glass (Left) that vibrates while going down the road and eventually falls off. It doesn't fall to the ground due to the wiring but it will pop back into place temporarily. My wife (it's her car) took it to our local luxury repair shop and they said it was a common issue for the XF. They said it would cost $500 to replace it. I searched through 63 pages with keyword "Mirror", with no luck in finding out how to repair it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem on the passenger side. A couple of the cheap plastic tabs are broken. I'm going to use liquid nails or something like that to glue it back. I found 1 used mirror on Ebay for $200, but it appeared to be broken.
Here's a link to a schematic of the mirror assy.

I was all ready to glue it but when I went to check the fit, it popped into place so I left it alone. I know some of the tabs are broken and it will eventually fall off again, but I'll wait until then. This is really the only thing wrong with my 2011 XF so I can't complain too much.
Had the same thing happen to our 2010 XF. Dealer replaced the mirror at no charge as a warranty item.

Do not glue it on! If you ever you to access you wont be able to get it off and will have to buy a complete new assembly. Not to mention youre lible to glue the drive motor since thats where the mirror attaches rendering the mirror no longer adjustable. At the least for being cheap use either 2 sided tape or sticky tar tape like used to seal ac systems. At least you can get those back apart. Electrochomatic, adjustable, heated, and blind spot monitor all = $$$ you didn't buy a old chevy
