Default Driver's window won't close all the way

My drivers side window won't close all the way. It's about 6mm-7mm open. It won't even open now. All other windows open and close but this one. Sunroof is operating normal too. I tried Global Closing and nothing. When i try to operate it, the mechanism makes noise as if it would start but it doesn't go anywhere. Help. This is a 2009 XF.

Sounds more like it might be a mechanical failure, but you can try doing a window reset if you like.

- Pull up (without triggering the auto close function) the driver's side window switch and hold it to manually raise the window up until it is all the way up or maybe in your case, stops moving. Release.
- Pull up again on the window switch, but this time trigger the auto up function and hold it for a couple of seconds. In your case, I'd try to hold it for at least 15 seconds, maybe there is was window block memory that needs to be cleared. Release.
- Repeat the same two steps (manual trigger followed by auto trigger) for the window down function.

I tried this already. Nothing happened. All other windows work fine. Someone recommended disconnecting the battery. I will try this today.

Could potentially be a failure of the window regulator which is common on the XF's from what my dealer told me.

I've had both my front driver and passenger ones replaced. My issue was that the passenger window would lower fairly easily but struggle to get back up to the fully closed position....At the half way up point it'd just get completely stuck.

My trick was to place a hand on either side of the glass and get someone to pressure the window up switch and it'd eventually close but it was a very slow process.

No problems since the new window regulators fitted on both sides.
