Default "Easy Entry"

I am now the proud owner of a 2012 Jag XF Portfolio - Pics to follow. I have a question - I seem to recall that my 2010 Jag XF had an "easy entry" function where the seat would move back and the steering wheel would move up when the car was turned off, and the reverse would happen when the car was started. This Jag doesn't do that, and I have been unable to find anything either in the settings or in the Owner's Handbook. Should the 2012 Jag Portfolio have that function?

Any help is much appreciated. Cheers

as far as I know, its only the steering wheel that moves, not the seat.

To get the steering wheel to move, there's a knob on the left side of the steering column to adjust the steering wheel position, turn that knob so it's in the "Auto" position.

The seats in my s-types both move back but when I bought my xf it didn't. When I queried it I was told, "They've added some things & taken others away". My steering column has never moved up & in on exit either - I have it on the lowest setting in the xf but the highest in the STR. I just live with it.

The steering wheel should move to max height and all the way in when you turn the engine off and open the driver's door, but the seat doesn't move.
But first you need to have the steering wheel "knob" set to "auto", and next you need to set at least one of the two seat memory positions.
Then, when you get in the car and press the desired memory button the seat will move do your desired spot (if it isn't already there), but the steering wheel won't move down or out to where you have set it until you shut the door and start the car.

Not a fan of these features anyway because of the wear it puts on the steering column and the seat rails, so I turn them off on any car that has it. One of my old XJ8's has a very expensive repair when play developed in the steering column from this feature. Fortunately, that was covered under the extended warranty.

Yep, steering column does move up to max height in xf. Since I bought it 2 years ago I've thought I placed the steering wheel on lowest setting when in fact it was on the highest. Remembering back, I think I adjusted the wheel low, decided after a few days to drop the seat low which I was used to, then raised the wheel up to max. This gave me a driving position I was comfortable with AND I could see the clocks unobstructed. Excuse me, I'm getting old.

Be nice if the seat moved like my STR though . . .
