Default EGR Leaking great MPG

Once again get it back togehter and somehting else under the supbercharger goes. This time EGR leak. Car was starrting and hit high reves (2k-3k) Had to shut it down restart to get it down. CEL for lean at idle, Symptoms of bag EGR. Would have been a simple r/r with the supercharger pulled but at least its a 3.0 and only one where the front one of the 5.0 is placed, Move a couple of things and I should have no problem. Was not 100% sure that was the issue until I saw a bit of oil on the underside of the hood directly abouve the valve. I can also hear it now.

That said, the car is getting insanely good gas milage around town. Like 24 avg MPG when it used to get 16-18. LTFT are good as soon as I get on the gas a bit so it;s not running lean. Makes me think it might be worth dealing with the starting issue sinve I do not drive the car much anymore.

Anyone have any thoughts about whether its a good idea or bad idea. Of course it needs to be repalced before emmisions inspection but that's not till may/ Jag indy says its just an emmissions issue

All the time when it's running lean will not be good (*) for the engine.

(*) I'm English so that means will be BAD.

I don't know how quickly it might be terminal... See what others say.

"running" as in "engine running".

It should not be lean the way described above.
