Default Error code P0512

Good morning,
I am a new user in need of your assistance. I have a XF 3.0d that is currently in a sad state. The story is long, but in order to get to the point I will go over the key points. It started with a fuel gauge that intermittently stopped working, which resulted in it going to the dealer to have a modification on the fuel sender and the fuel pump (a known issue the dealer said). It was also services at the same time. 200 miles later whilst driving along a duel carriage way, an engine fault light came up on the dash board; the engine shut down and would not restart. The AA collected the car ran a couple of tests and concluded that the fuel pump had failed. Back to the dealer who concluded that the fuel pump was fine, but an injector / injectors had failed. This was then revised to not only the injectors but the high pressure fuel pump as well. With an anticipated repair bill of £8,000 from the dealer (which I could not afford) I had the car taken to a local garage that have carried out the work. I now have a problem, in that the car will not start and is showing an error code of P0512 which we have to date been unable to trace. Can any of you give me a guide as to what this code means and what may be causing it?
Geoff

According to the web page I use for error codes, P0512 = "Starter Request Circuit", see here: OBD-II DTC Database - Generic Powertrain Codes (P0xxx, P2xxx, P34xx - P39xx)
If that is correct then it seems there is an electrical problem with the starting system.

Thank you for that,
We have checked through the wiring and connectors and everything looks to be correctly connected. It’s got a new high pressure pump and six new injectors, plus all pipework and rails.
It turns over, but will not start; do you have any suggestions as to where to go next with our problem?

Take it to an automotive sparky and get him to test the starter electrics.
