Escort Radar 9500ci install
Thinking about getting this installed on my 2011 XF base model. Am I going to run into any issues with the front laser shifter? Or the rear over the back license plate? I guess the parking sensors supposidly activate the laser detector? Any suggestions would be helpful. I plan on having this done at Best Buy's Geek Squad.

I have this on my car. It was installed by a custom stereo place. Not sure I'd trust Best Buy with my Jag, but that's up to you. I had my installer put the control unit and display in the small cubby just forward of the cupholders, by fabricating a custom panel.
The front laser units are behind the grill, and the rear one is mounted just below the bottom edge of the rear bumper. I have some pics of the cubby and the front shifter, but not of the rear unit at the bottom edge of the bumper.
Both locations decrease the range, as they are fairly low in the car, but I seem to pick up signals from plenty far enough away. The front shifters are at about the same level as the front license plate, so that's fine. The rear one is low, being at the lower edge of the bumper but to me it's worth the aesthetics. Mounting that thing to the license plate frame to me looks a bit odd. The "passenger eject" button is simply a graphic glued to a lighter plug blank.

I was wondering how to go about this myself. Thanks very much for sharing, N4S. BTW, are you sure you want your console in plain sight? I believe that you can get either an infraction or misdemeanor in California if a cop notices you with a lidar jammer. Or is yours just a detector?

If you're referring to the covering fabric for the control panel board, I think it may be textured vinyl. The installation shop sourced it so I don't really know for sure. Looks to me to be pretty heavy duty, like something you'd use for seat covers or custom stereo enclosures.

Here is another install of the control module that I found to look nice.

I'm going to look around at other car install places. After watching several videos on youtube, this is an extensive install and I want a professional installer to do it. The rear laser interceptor has to be drilled directly above the back license plate. Running the wires to the the control interface is going to take patience and crafstmanship. I went on Escort's webpage and found an installer that is recommeded by them.

I have this clip saved to my desktop... Played it for my wife who's been driving a Jag for many years... Told her to get off her high horse and that she ain't foolin' no one... lol Her reply.... You're driving one... what's your game. Great fun though...

Hey Need4SPD,
Its been a while, How are you making out with down loading your updates from Escort? They send so many at times seems like I have to down load new up dates every other week. Also, I though that this detector (9500ci) is suppost to beat the detectors, detector, beacuse it doesn't put out the same waves as a standard detector. Atleast that what was stated in the escort forum.

As for being undetectable to detectors, I don't know. I think it's supposed to be invisible to such things but I have no way of knowing. I suspect that's only useful in places where detectors are illegal, but if I lived in one of those places, I'd probably not get a built-in detector so as not to risk having the car confiscated.
