First time owning a Jaguar, wood panels replacement?
Hey everyone,
I just bought my first Jaguar, Im a Ford / Lincoln guy, coming from Towncars (1995, 1996, 1997) , Fusions (2007 v6 set, 2010 Hybrid), Mustang (2000), Navigator (2008).
I am excited to pick it up in 2 days, its a XF supercharged , 2009.
My question is about the wood panels, I was wondering if they can be replaced, the one in the drivers door is cracked?

The wood does not crack it's the clear coat. When I had mine repaired at the dealer I learned they all use the same place.

So when I had another crack I took the panel out myself and sent it off to Madera.
Some people have tried to repair it themselves and it's probably possible but I just paid Madera to do it.
I will say I never had any cracking on the repaired panels.

Before your remove anything I would call Madra and get a price. They are pretty familiar with Jaguar wood so if you describe it they should be able to get you a price.
You will need to remove the door panel for sure but I don't know further details. It's not a complicated item so you can probably see what needs to come apart after the panel is off.
Do you know how to get the door panel off? I have an XJR so not sure?

(working from memory) Door panel has 4 screws, 3 under the pull handle and 1 behind a pop-off piece on the door edge. After that it just pulls straight off. It takes some pressure to pull, but be careful so you don't break the plastic push snap inserts holding it on. There is a great video on YouTube showing how it works.
Be aware the door panel (door card) has wiring plugged into various things, like speakers, switches, etc., so don't drop it until those are unplugged. I didn't pay attention to how the wood piece was attached on mine, but suspect it will be obvious once the panel is off the car.
