Default First track day in the XFR

Yesterday marked the first time I've taken my XFR to a road track. I really have to say that this is a magnificent car! The Jag performed well and behaved predictably all day. My all season tires were definitely not up for the task, but the brakes were flawless.

I ran the car in Dynamic mode and Sport mode all day, and had the diff on Trac. Sadly, I didn't try the paddles till my last session, but they completely changed the driving experience.

After the day was over, I really wanted a more relaxed setting for the rear diff. In Trac mode, the traction control was really invasive out of the corners and I couldn't accelerate for the first 80 feet or so. I never turned off the traction control entirely, mostly out of fear.

All said and done, I had a fantastic time. It was pretty clear that the car was truly epic, and that the driver was crap. I hope to get another track day later this year, and with any luck, on proper summer rubber.

Was this at HPR? I have a 1-day credit there due to a snow day last year. I am definitely heading out there some time soon.

Yeah, this was at HPR. It was a great time, and the people running the track were really laid back.

I didn't know you could get all season tires on a XFR. Did you add those later? I'm in MN and they sold my Supercharged XF with summer only tires.

It sounds like you had a lot of fun. Turn that traction control off and baby it out of the corners until you learn the car a bit.

Yeah, it didn't come with AS tires, I bought them to get through winter here in Denver. They've been good tires.
