Default Front parking aid auto setup?

Is there no way to set the parking sensors to work automatically on the front? Seems like they need to switched on everytime?

Thanks

Correct, there is no way other than to manually turn them on via the button on the overhead console. Unless you select reverse gear, in which case they come on automatically. Which is how it should be, think about driving in bumper to bumper stop/go traffic, would you really want the sensors going nuts every time you pulled up near the car in front?

True that I think that's how it was in the merc can't remember exactly.. Just a matter of getting used to it!

Mine seem to come on automatically, if someone pulls too close to me at a light mine comes on, as well as when I'm pulling in my garage. I always thought they were speed dependent for activation.

That's strange, mine work exactly the opposite to this!
But I'm pretty sure they (the front sensors) are speed dependant, that is if you haven't already manually turned them off they automatically turn off above a certain speed, maybe 10 mph/16 kph.

They work the same as the Land Rover parking sensors - if you engage reverse gear then both sets of parking sensors are activated for a time, even after you switch back out of reverse. So you may find that your front or rear sensors still pick up other cars or even pedestrians during this time. You can choose to turn the sensors off or on with the button if you're done with them or need them without reverse triggering them. With the XFR models that have ACC, you can enable Forward Alert with a variable threshold which will warn you if you sneak up on a car ahead too quickly ;-) But that's the radar not the parking sensors doing the calculation...
