Recently bought a XF from 2014 and the front sensor has never once fired in months that I’ve owned it.

I’ve tried putting it in reverse then driving forward close to an object - and nothing happen (apparently this tells the car to monitor the front). The rear sensors work fine.

My questions are:
1) do all XFs have front sensors by default or is it an add on? I can’t see any little circles at the front of my car whereas I can on the back

2) I saw people on here previously mentioning an overhead button to turn on the front sensors but I don’t have any button overhead, unless I’m missing something

 

Your right about the little circles. Can you post a picture as it sounds like you don't have front park sensors?
