Default fuel cap not flap

I've read lots about the fuel flap not opening but on my way to airport I pulled into the petrol station, flap opened no problem but I couldn't get the cap off. It was very stiff but would rotate anti clockwise, appear to be loose but wouldn't come off. If rotated clockwise it would click like normal. In the end, I had to give up on the refuel.
Car is now at the airport with just enough fuel to get home, luckily there's a Jaguar dealer on the way but not back till next week.
I wondered if anyone else has had this problem and whether there's an easy fix other than beefing up down the gym?

How much could you rotate counter-clockwise?...About three turns is what you need to remove it..The looseness is normal IIRC, for the ratchet part to work when installing.

Hello DPK
Once the cap was loose, which took quite some effort, I think it would just keep turning counter-clockwise but would ratchet immediately when turned clockwise.....
Almost like the locking mechanism was rotating with the cap...

Ouch!..Sounds like the cap is broken...You'll probably need a big set of Channel Lock pliers to free it up....I don't know what you call them in France...but here is what I'm talking about
