OK. Getting the fuel rail on is incredibly hard, as I don't know how where the last clip (over cylinder 8) holding the fuel system electrical harness housing in place is, which makes it impossible to place the fuel rail in place.
I've released the front and middle clips, so I can move the harness around by not at the end near the firewall.
Can anyone tell me where that clip is?, or how l release the end of the harness?
Not sure? Can you post a picture or two to help?
I had no trouble placing the fuel rail on top of the 4 injectors but yes it needs to be firmly pushed into place because your fighting 4 O-rings.
Jaguar has a tool they want you to use when installing the fuel rail but I have never seen anyone use it. The tool is just some bolts with the heads cut off to guide the fuel rail into place. Screw the headless bolts into the head and use them as a guide for the rail. Then remove the headless bolt and replace with the fuel rail bolts.
Attached is the procedure for changing the injectors. It's for the V-6 but shows a lot of the same things the V-8 uses. Including those alignment pins. Jaguar 303-1450.

the harness just slides over and out of the way of the valve cover. take the ground bolt off the upper timing cover and your cam magnets cam sensor etc connectors out
I found the release tab. It's right at the back, just before the end of the plastic harness cover. You need to press down on the 1/2" long release tab with a long flat head screw driver. It releases the harness, which will give another 1/2" of room, which was more than enough.
The fuel rail went easily into place, and tightening the bolts slid the rail down over the o-rings easily and smoothly. The car is now purring like a kitten, with no roughness or error messages. Thank you everyone for your help!
Here are some pics of the tabs you need to release, to make fuel rail access and install easier. Front and middle tabs of the injector electrical harness Rear tab of the injector electrical harness. Use a long flat head screwdriver to press the tab downwards to release.
