02 xtype problems
My 2002 Jaguar X-Type continuously has a cruise control not available message and the code that's throwing is saying that it's not firing on cylinder 3. The car runs like hell and I've done just about everything in the posts as far as changing the ribbed hose that goes from the intake manifold. It looks like all the vacuum lines are connected and there are no vacuum leaks it sounds like there's a vacuum leak but I don't see one anywhere that's coming from the left side passenger side of the engine where the PVC valves connect but I can't find anything. I checked all the o-rings and all the parts that all the posts list need to replace the o-rings and they all look fine any help would be appreciated. Again the only codes that are being thrown on the OBD scanner is a misfire on cylinder three and then code 1000 which is basically the maintenance cycle or the scan cycle is not being completed which is just a generic code. I don't think cylinder 3 to stop firing correctly out of nowhere so again any help comments feedback would be appreciated thank you
One approach is to swap the coil and spark plug from the cylinder with the problem and the cylinder at the front of the car and the front of the engine which I believe is Cylinder 2 (US market, left hand drive). When you put everything back together you are likely to find the misfire stayed with the coil & spark plug which is now easy to replace because the manifold does not need to come out to get to that cylinder. The other outcome is the problem may have stayed on cylinder 3 which probably indicates a problem with the wiring to the coil, the wiring to the fuel injector, or the fuel injector itself.
You mentioned in another post you had animals maybe chewing on wires so if you have the upper intake off to look at the coil and spark plug I would look at the wiring diagrams and check continuity between the coil connector and the ECM. Do the same for the fuel injector connector on cylinder 3.
The "Powertrain DTC Summaries - OBDII" lists the possible reasons for a misfire code as:
Cylinder compression low
Worn camshaft / broken valve spring(s)
Fuel delivery pressure (low / high)
Fuel injector(s) restricted / leaking
Fuel injector(s) continuously open
Fuel contamination
Fuel injector circuit fault(s) (Injector DTCs also flagged)
Spark plug failure / fouled / incorrect gap
ECM to ignition coil primary circuit fault (Cylinder misfire detected DTC also flagged)
Ignition coil failure
