Default 2002 X-Type starting problems, need some help

Hi Guys,

I have been the proud owner of a 2002 Jaguar X-type(2.5, Manual) for about a year now, 132k miles. I've done plenty of oil changes and generally I've been trying to keep the car in good condition and driving it with care. Well now I'm experiencing some problems that I cant seem to fix. Here are the symptoms:

Starting Problems, Rough Idle
This morning I started the car and it started fine. When i was reversing i didn't give it enough gas and It died. When i tryed to turn it back on it gave me a ZZZzzzZZ sound (Sounded like the starter moter is turning that's it.) After about five minutes or so, I tryed it again and it started up. Also what i notice is in the mornings it idles kind of hard (i can hear the car kind of 'kicking' just a little bit). then after about 1 or 2 minutes it's back to normal. When i drive my car it drives just fine.

Error Codes
Check engine light is on, there was a couple codes. The ones i can remember were misfire on cylinder 1 & misfire on cylinder 1 3 and 5. I changed the spark plugs and still nothing. The car drives fine. I'll post the exact codes later today.

Engine Coolant
I have to add coolant to my car about once a week. i think it's leaking somewhere. I never ever let the car overheat, I've just kept my eye on it. I noticed the radiator is tilted, like its missing a bracket. (Image attached on a stock image, i have circled the part that im referring to)

Hey luisg707,
Hey luisg707,
What you've explained I think could be a few things. Whenever there are problems with idle or starting I always think vacuum leak. Both the PCV hose and the Break-Booster line are notorious for breaking in our cars. But, the good thing is that both the PCV hose, GenuineŽ - Jaguar X-Type 2003-2004 Breather Hose, and Break-Booster hose,

, are cheap. Here's a pretty cool trick on finding a vacuum leak with a cigar,
.

It honestly does sound like a small vacuum leak, at least to me it does. Test this stuff out and get back to us.
