Default Gear selector module replacement

So, after ordering a new GSM last July (yes, 2021!), it finally arrived, was fitted and all is well. Problem is, the cost. When originally ordered, I was told it was 1300 for the part, plus around 300 to fit.

Looking at the final bill, it shows the cost of the part was 446 with a labour cost of 877!

Having fitted an alternative part when it first broke, I know it takes less than 1 hour to strip down the dash facia, fit the part then replace everything. I was told that there was no programming involved, which was why I couldn't fit an aftermarket replacement.

Anyone else had one of these done so I've got a reference cost as this really doesnt feel right at all? Is thus something I should challenge, and if so, how?

I replaced my by myself for the cost of about $750.00 for a new unit. Took about 1 1/2 hour, and did not have to any type of reprogramming.
