"Gearbox not in park"
Hey Everyone,
Wondering if someone has ever heard of this problem I am experiencing. About 1/3 of the time or a bit less while entering the car the screen within the cluster will flash (between .5 seconds and 1 second long) "Gearbox Not In Park". I inquired with the dealership but because it doesn't happen all the time nor does it seem to be effecting anything I have decided not to make the drive up (2 hours) to visit the dealer. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard or seen this happen.
I always (forgot a couple times as I am used to manual) shut the car off while in park and double click the handle button to lock and set the alarm outside. Then I enter the car the same way every time and don't feel as though anything changes when I get the message and when I don't get the message. Thoughts?
Thanks!
Aaron

I am not to sure I just purchased the vehicle about 1.5 months ago and just started noticing it. What are the two updates? And what is the negative result of not having them done? Do they switch out the entire shifter area? Thanks for the post jagular!

Go to any jaguar dealer and ask them to check your VIN number for all factory servicing.
It is essential to get this done as the initial shifter circuit boards were all from the same production run.
The second recall replaced the shifter assembly as well as the circuit board.

Got the same issue in my XF here in the UK. i lived with it for an year. i realised that rocking my car would resolve the issue, Until it one day it stopped doing so.
Took it to one of the reputed service stations in Orpington called Prestige cars ( not directly with Jaguar but they are Jag partners ). They charged me 270 pounds for investigation, fix and a nice car wash
Apparently issue , as I was told, was with TMC ( or TCM, i don't recall exactly ) was there. This also fixed intermittent airbag light flashing issue.
So, this issue is not linked to actual Gearbox problem.. It is linked to a faulty communication device it seems.
