Grinding brakes
Rarely I would say. The OEM pads are soft - lots of braking power but pads eaten quickly. If you got 30k out of them I think you've done well
Look at aftermarket replacement options - ceramics are effective and a lot less dust.

The rear brakes are used when the wheels start to slip (traction control) so typically they will burn out faster than the fronts. I swapped to ceramics and I have been very happy with the reduced dust. I did note a slight decrease in braking though. I'm happy with the trade off. The stock pads were a little too touchy in my opinion.
Replaced front discs and pads in my old XFR and current XFR-S at about 30,000 km (just under 19,000 miles). Did rears on XFR-S at same mileage. Discs could probably have lasted longer but pads were definitely done. As with the above posts, I did not find this unusual, but I drive aggressively. The XFR saw one limited outing at a track day; the XFR-S has not been on track.
