help. ..why do I have an electric outlet in my front bumper?
Hello everyone in the Jaguar Community if you have a 2010 xfr can someone please explain why I have a outlet in the front bumper of my car I did purchase the car used to a couple of months ago and I just noticed it which I thought was the adaptive cruise control radar but I looked and I opened it up and I found that it is actually an outlet I don't even think I have the adaptive cruise control anyway if anyone knows why this is here or if someone put this here please let me know your input thank you so much

mains supply.
Probably the same as shown in the f-type workshop manual.
I had the same one on my car. My car was a canadian car, and engine block heaters are pretty common
Same here. Used XFR that was first in Canada. I wonder if the OP's car is from Canada as well. I wish I could swap my MPH and KMH layout, as my primary (larger) readout is KMH.
Yes sir, that is the plug for the block heater. Unfortunately trying to find a cord to plug into it is an issue as the hinge on that cover makes it quite difficult. The newer cars have a special proprietary cord and connection.
The funny thing is this, there is no means to warm the battery so, you can warm the engine in the front but your still do not have the power to start it because the battery is frozen in the back. When I live in a location that reaches -40 C or colder in the winter, this becomes an issue.

The block heater is an electric heating coil attached to the block of the engine which the coil is submerged in the coolant. Newer units are thermal controlled and are designed to heat the block and inadvertently all fluids in the engine to ease the turning over of the engine in cold weather. Another side benefit is that it warms the engine compartment and all items within including reducing the time to warm the cabin as the coolant is prewarmed to a degree..
When you try starting an internal combustion engine in extreme cold weather, fluids such as your motor oil solidifies to the degree that the engine is difficult to near impossible for the starter to turn over the crankshaft. This is why I find it funny with the battery in the truck (Boot).
I don't plug in the car unless the outside temerature is below -20 C (-4 F)
