Started the car with the door open.
Closed the door.
When I put it in reverse the horn beeped 2x.
Backed out, put it in drive and the horn beeped 2x.
Hasn't beeped since, 3 or 4 trips.
Odd? Normal?

 

Great question......I have had on occasion the same thing when I just open the drivers door to enter. ????? (with the door NOT locked)

 

Usually it only beeps on entry if you press the button on the handle and don't have the key. My passengers occasionally press the button when getting in and the car honks.

 

Usually happens to me when I step out of the car while it's either on or unlocked and then back in. The SA told me the beep is the result of the key either out of range or not being recognized. Try to change the battery on your key FOB.

 

Thanks for your replies. I have also bumped the button occasionally while opening and gotten the beep. Today I started the car and drove a couple of hundred feet before noticing the door was not latched (door open warning light), closed the door and continued, never any beeps. Maybe it knows when the door is "almost closed"...

I guess it will remain a mystery.
