Default Hose Under Supercharger Failure

First time posting in a while. Last week had to have my 09 XF SC towed to the shop for coolant loss. No overheating thank heavens. The culprit has been diagnosed the dreaded hose under the supercharger. After having it transferred to a local independent, I was informed that the only way to change the hose was to remove the supercharger after dropping the engine as there was not enough room to remove the rear bolts from the supercharger. Is this true or is there some work around that any of you have managed? Help!!!!

A garage removed mine without doing anything else with the engine, though they mentioned the EGR was difficult.

If you can find a garage who do a supercharger rebuild, you could ask if they will replace the pipe as part of the rebuild.

Did they say anything about not being able to reach the rear bolts on the supercharger? That was the reasoning for having to drop the motor to get to it. Did your shop say anything about or is there a way to remove the cowling at the firewall to aid in the removal? Thank you very much for your previous reply, it gives some hope for a less expensive repair.

You could ask them, they are usually helpful

https://powerhouse.uk/content/superc...er-rebuild.php

Apologies for only pointing you towards them but my involvement was taking the car there and collecting it afterwards

If you need to go with removing the supercharger then you may as well have it rebuilt, there were worn parts on mine

There's no need to drop the engine to remove the supercharger. I've had the supercharger off my car, there is a lot of plastic to be removed, ie the scuttle panel and such.
There is a few connectors at the back that are an utter nightmare to get to.
If your going to that length I'd change the rear crossover pipe as well, they have been known to split and leak.
Hope this makes sense. Andy

Don't forget the 09XF SC of the original poster is the 4.2L V8. Yours is the 5.0 V8. So the procedure could be quite different

Although I would be surprised if you have to drop the engine as I've not seen others have to do that on the forum

NO WAY! I have seen the 4.2L supercharger removed. It is far easier that the 5.0L. There is absolutely no need to drop the engine for this job. I can take mine off in about 1 hour. They are trying to hose you man.
