coolant hose under the supercharger leaking
i started to smell maple syrup yesterday morning running around houston i instantly craved pancakes. on my way to IHOP my "low coolant" light popped up which explained the maple syrup smell and pancake craving. I started to look for my leak then spotted it coming from the back of the motor. "just great..." is what I told myself. I then drove it to the shop and have them check it out more in depth and give me a quote. $1600 is what I was told for the complete repair. I know it's labor intense but gosh that seems like a lot for a rubber hose.

I'm afraid taking the supercharger off is a real pig.
You can DIY, quite a lot of members have.
It's worth getting the injectors cleaned and (possibly) swapping the knock sensors at the same time.

The charge cooler & intake is different between the XKR's and the STR/XJR, much simper arrangement on the XKR....
There is a great thread here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-repair-38911/ which shows all the tricks and traps and secrets on removing the supercharger on an STR (and therefore X350 XJR as well)
I would copy/print out the info from that thread & give it to your shop, have the guys read up on the practical problems before they dive in following a JTIS/Topix instruction....which will probably leave out one or two crucial bits of information...

It seems a lot of money for a $10 hose, but there is a lot of dismantling/reassembly work to do. Might I suggest you try to put in a metal pipe instead of a rubber one. You'd have to make it yourself, of course.....
I had roughly the same bill for exactly the same thing on my '00 X308 XJR ($1500 bill for $12 hose)
Glad to see Jaguar improved things on the X350 and removed this particular failure mechanism..............NOT :-)

FINALLY! after having my car in the shop for over a week to replace that damn hose under the supercharger all seems well (knock on wood) when i was shown the hose and the section that had the leak. it wasnt the actual hose under the supercharger but an elbow piece thats comes out the back. the hole was quite small as well, like a puncture. i told myself why didnt they just replace that part and save me some $$$ but of course thats not how a shop works. tho they did replace all the gaskets/seals, some vacuum lines and flushed the system. total was $1,560. with that being said i think im going to look for another indie shop for maintenance and so fourth. they got coolant all over my belts so they're squeaking like crazy im having them replace them after thanksgiving on their dollar. also they cracked my windshield which they had to replace, but during that they broke my security dash sensors housing. every time i have gone there in the past year ive been misdiagnosed or i whined up having "something else thats wrong" wanting charge me much more than what i initially go in for. i expect better quality for my $$$ and i hate when people im younger than what i am, and because i have money the to spare which = im a sucker. im no chump!
