I drove a 2009 XF Supercharged at a used car lot today. They pull it up for a hand over and the first thing I noticed when I sat in it was the console was quite warm to the touch around the brake release lever. I've driven a few, and this is the first time I've experienced that. The car has mileage around 21k. Is this hot console anything to be worried about?

 

Jaguar says this is normal unless it exceeds a certain temperature. Mine gets very hot and is " normal" according to Jaguar.

It doesn't always get hot, either, which I think is pretty weird. I have experience with three Italian cars though, and the standard response from those dealers for just about any weird fault was " itsa normale"
