Unhappy How do I remove 2011 XFR axle ?

I need help in removing my `11 XFR rear axle due to having a hub with broken studs that will not come off. I've done what the workshop manual showed and the axle did not come out. Am I missing something ? The only thing I accomplished was to separate the CV closest to diff (not what I wanted to do - I did manage to push it back together).

That stinks. Can't help.

But wondering why you have broken studs? Is it because some monkey used an impact wrench on the lug nuts?

Bought car 03/2019 w/ relatively new rear tires, potholed and bent inside of front rim and while having that fixed decided to check inside of rear rim and that is when the problem began - 3 lugs came loose and the next lug snapped off !! The other 1 didn't budge... Got a replacement hub and heated the remaining lug and it too snapped off and the drilling began. Now I'm running into these other issues... The other rear has the same lug issues (although none broken yet, but I've been soaking them) so I'm going to say that some asshat put them on NASCAR style !!!

Agree. Unfortunately that asshat probably worked as a "professional" in the automotive industry.

I noticed this last time I went to DiscountTiire that they now have "torque sticks" for their impact wrenches. Those still aren't as good as hand tightening, but it's a major improvement over the way they used to torque to the max of the impact wrench, which is often up to 10x the correct torque, with nothing to limit them. I used to have to bring the car home and right away redo the torque. I remember having to literally jump on a 3 foot breaker bar with over 200lbs of my weight to break the lugs free, and that was right after they put the wheels on. Imagine how much force it would take after being on for a few years of road grime and corrosion.

I am sure they finally got torque sticks because enough people came back and asked them to fix the broken bolts.

Almost no consumers realize what damage these "pros" are doing. And it's even worse when they find themselves in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road with a flat and they can't get the wheel off.

Oh believe me if I knew who / what company put those back tires on my XFR I would be there raising HELL !!!! Funny U should mention Discount Tires...That's where I get my tires installed, fortunately I know people who work there so when I actually bring my XFR or `97 Z28 to them they know to hand tighten & use a torque wrench ONLY !!!

Agreed with all the above. I found a local tire shop that puts wheel nuts on by hand with a breaker bar

Aaaaand that's exactly how I have done it for 40 years!
1/2" breaker bar with a plastic sleeved hex socket, then "two grunts and a fart" torque spec when doing the final tightening.
Never broken a nut or a lug yet other than two snapped lugs on two different spacers and that was from undoing them after a tyre shop grease monkey over-torqued them.

Back to my original question:
I need help in removing my `11 XFR rear axle due to having a hub with broken studs that will not come off. I've done what the workshop manual showed and the axle did not come out. Am I missing something ? The only thing I accomplished was to separate the CV closest to diff (not what I wanted to do - I did manage to push it back together).
Anyone with any experience on this please HELP !!

Are you sure you have the full Workshop Manual?
Coz it goes to great length and a lot of detail and piles of "special tools" on how to do this.
You can get the 2010-2011 XFR Workshop Manual from my Dropbox here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bet26xniua...kshop.pdf?dl=0

Admittedly I haven't undertaken this task, but at the risk of stating the obvious, do you have tool 205-491 mentioned in the service manual, or at least an approximation of it?

It definitely seems like the half shafts need to be pressed out of the hub.

I do have an equivalent tool / puller for the job. The half-shaft is locked / rusted into the hub that has the aforementioned broken studs. I have a replacement hub and since I was having trouble pressing the half-shaft from the hub also got my hands on a replacement half-shaft (in case I damage it) . So I am trying to extract the half-shaft from the differential in an attempt to get on with it.
On page 568 it shows how to release the half-shaft from the diff....Only mine will not release and upon trying to do so I actually pulled the CV apart (not a big deal due to having a replacement half-shaft) !!
I am currently at a loss....and don't know what to do

Get yourself a plastic dead blow hammer (Harbor Freight) and give whats left of the half shaft a couple good whacks side to side and all around, the splines and circlip are just a little sized. It should come on out after a little hammer persuasion..If not
lol

The heat he used in the welding may have also helped break it loose, so you might try heating it.

You really should be sharing this in pictures.
