Arrow How to Get the Vents to Open Upon Startup (with AC OFF)

I am trying to get the AC vents to open upon ignition, when the shift knob rises up on my 2015 XF Sport, but that does not work.

Under climate control Settings, I have the option for "Auto" or "Always Open"

I have tried both options. When set to "Auto" the vents only open when the AC or Heater is turned on.

When I set it to "Always open" the vents stay open even when the car is turned off.

How can I get the vents to open when the car is turned on, and close when the car is turned off, as shown in every XF video review ever lol?

You can't. Why do you want the climate control off anyway? The reason they open and close in every video is because the climate control is on. Leave the climate control on.

On Auto, if it's blowing air it opens. Why wouldn't you be having either hot or cold air coming in? Or if you were driving with the windows down, why would you want the vents open?

Exactly.."Auto" means they open and close, (if the climate control is ON) during when you start and shut off the car...Normal

"Always Open" means just that, regardless of anything else, they REMAIN OPEN...Normal ... as is how I have mine set to alleviate wear and tear on the vent motors.

I live near the beach in So Cal, you never need climate control here. Windows down, music up, that's how we roll. The only time I really ever turn on the climate control is for girls in the passenger seat.

Looks like I will be leaving it on Auto.

I just like the look of the vents opening when you start the car but all I have to do is have the AC on for that. Thanks for the clarification guys. This is my first Jag, which I'm loving by the way.

You can go into the climate setting page and turn off the AC but leave the fan on very low. That will allow the vents to open and close on start-up/shut-down and not run the AC compressor.

With the fan on very low, you won't really notice much but it will still very the temp from the temp setting you choose. Just won't get colder than outside air.
