Default How in the holy hell! ---> Alfa Romeo!!!

How did they manage to get 505 hp out of a 2.9L V6 and Jaguar can only offer us 380hp in the S version of our V6. Seems like we got the short end of the stick on this one. Any thoughts?

I would guess it's mainly because twin turbo vs relatively small supercharger.
And it was designed by an ex-Ferrari engine builder.

Will it sound like a Jaguar? (No.)

Will it be as reliable as an Alfa commonly is...

You have to remember that the 505 figure is a PEAK horsepower figure. The power band on that alfa looks like everest, it doesnt have all that much power all the time. Its power band is between 2500 and 5000 rpm. Kind of a tweaky little engine.:

This engine was developed exclusively for the Quadrifoglio by Ferrari technicians and it is related to Ferrari's own twin-turbo F154 V8., sharing the California T's bore of 86.5 mm (3.4 in) and stroke of  82.0 mm (3.2 in). It produces 510 metric horsepower (375 kW; 503 bhp) at 6,500 rpm, and 600 N·m (440 lb·ft) of torque between 2,500 and 5,000 rpm,and its turbo boost pressure reaches up to 35 pounds per square inch (2.4 bar) at the peak.

You know, I would not expect that sort of comment coming from a Jag owner. I have had some conversations with people who trash on the Jaguar reliability but seem to have nothing but glowing comments when they describe a LandRover or Range Rover, calling them virtual tanks and that they are indestructible. Funny thing is, they have never owned either one, but are just parroting what they have heard others say.

I like Italian cars that end in a vowel ....... but only if it's an 'i'.

Just read an article in Automobile on the Quadrofoglio. It's supposedly ridiculously fast around the North Loop beating many exotics with I believe was a 7:32 lap time. The writer kept referring to it has having "character" and having an ability to go seriously fast with just fingertip control.

Definitely interested to watch what these do reliability and price wise on the used market. I wish Jaguar would address the "R" situation with the XF and XE so I could start planning what will come after my XFR. After having this much power, it will be difficult to go back to standard power.
