I had the TSB done on my headliner. Press on the headliner at the rear of the sunroof surround and see if it makes a creaking noise. If it does, have the TSB issue done. Mine had some clips and foam pieces added and no more noise.

Another way to check is to see if your Driver Side and Passenger Side Sun visors sit flush with the headliner. They should sit flush on the outer side (closer to the door). If they aren't that indicates a clip or two broken/loose.

Took the Jag to the dealer for it's annual service and had them check out the noise I previously mentioned here..they did agree, (two different techs drove it) and noticed the exact same sound as I did and occurring at the same ways of driving..both thought it may be something in the front Left suspension...I had to leave it with them and they gave me a loaner to drive home with..Said they in good faith, couldn't let me go with that noise, as it bothered them enough to keep it for a closer look....we'll see what it turns out to be..stay tuned.

UPDATE:

Wow! this oil change has turned into a real headache..The techs Replaced a couple of Sub Frame bolts and that DID NOT cure the noise..now they are waiting on someone or a specialist to talk to them from Jaguar corporate to look into this mystery noise further..so they are keeping the car for the weekend..

Stay tuned

I'd be interested to see what they end up finding on this one!

had the sunroof creaking fixed per the service bulletin under warranty. problem gone.

used baby powder on the door sills (suggested by someone on another thread) and it worked great. problem gone.

took it in for service re: gas tank slosh a couple of months ago and was told Jaguar was aware of the problem and would have a fix in 60-90 days, and i would be notified. haven't heard back from them yet.

At least they are trying to figure it out! Some dealers just say "that's normal" for anything they can't figure out.

Latest:

The car is fixed finally after one week of exploratory surgery (Body sub-frame bolts and mounting bushings...nope, ..Lower control arm and ball joints...nope)...They found that the front left upper control arm was the culprit..it was functioning okay, but it had a creaking noise that was causing the sound, and they weren't going to let me have it back until they figured it out..

My baby is whole again

Great to hear. Always good to be able to work with a dealer who dedicates themselves to getting to the bottom of a gremlin like that.

Loving working with my dealership as well. Makes a world of difference.

Thanks...I was getting concerned if they'd ever find the problem...they used an instrument that they hooked to different suspension parts and listened to see to which part made the noise...

And believe me..when I went to pick it up, there was a lot of hand shaking and back patting going on..

[QUOTE=BritCars;769275]I just bought the Sil Glyde and will try it too - will let you know if it

I started hearing creaks also and my sunroof clips has been replaced 2x under Warranty. Besides the sunroof the dealer said he didn't hear any other creaks so nothing else was done, I tried the Sil-Glyde on the doors ,trunk and sunroof after reading this thread. Seems to work so far. Thanks greatly for the advice. That noise was driving me crazy. Love the Jag but those creaky noise made it sound like an economy car. While there is nothing wrong with owning an economy car you expect more from owning a jag

As far as the roof noise goes, the car was in for service and the they determined that some woring in the headliner had come undone which was causing the "knocking" sound. They re-secured the wiring and re-secured the roofliner with the updated clips. Let's see how long it holds up!
Kiddhan625,

Is the Sil-glyde still holding up? Any creaking?

If you can update us, that would be great.

Update 3: So far so good guys! No creaking or squeaking noise. I checked the doors last night and you can tell/see that the grease is still holding strong.

Update 4: I am sold on this lubricant. Still going strong with no creaking/squeaking sounds. I plan to apply another layer before winter hits!

Same for me - I had the rattling sunroof which service bulletin addressed. But still terrible creaking from the roof. One application of SilGlyde and all gone for the last month. The sunroof rubber seal looks like it had dried out and cracked up quite badly - so as well as noise issues i hope this will prevent further deterioration and leaking...

I had brought to car to the dealership for service and notified them about the creaky doors. They called me and said it was the sunroof seal. They changed it and there is no more creaking.

I thought i would post an update.

I had brought the car in for "creaky doors" and it turned out to be the sunroof. They said it wasn't the doors, but the sunroof seal. Therefore, replaced the seal and the creaking had disappeared. That was the best week with the car.

But, of course within two weeks, the sunroof starting the creaking again. I haven't brought the car back as i don't think they will be able to address the issue. I recently had a loaner XF and that one had a creaky sunroof too.

Just ordered the Sil-Glyde. Going to apply and hopefully that stops it.
